Thoughts on Using Video for Marketing

Posted by Mike Volpe on Mon, Jan 12, 2009

I did a short interview with Matthew Mamet from Permission TV at the last WebInno event.  We chatted about some of the things to think about when using video for marketing.

We use a lot of video in our marketing at HubSpot:

In the video we talk a bit about how to think about using video in marketing.

UPDATE: For anyone having trouble with the video, here is a link to another version you can try.

Mike,

I cannot watch the video, it seems to be broken (may be a wrong firewall setting on my side). There are also viral videos on corporate websites. I watched one this morning that I found pretty well done: http://www.ingliondeposit.com (Bank industry). Please note that I have no affiliations with that bank whatsoever.

Mike, I cannot see the video either (getting error #2124 + black screen).

However, I agree wholeheartedly that there are myriad ways to use video in your marketing and if you haven't dipped your toe in the water, now is a time to start.

Conservative companies can use videos to answer FAQs or share simple, more human messages from the 'CEO' ... while the more avant-garde are already putting viral videos and fun, informative content out there.

We use video for product demos and a feature called News in a Box that is both on Vignette.com and on YouTube. Our customers are using our Video solution to do some amazing things on the web.

Today the web is all about engagement and we know that video speaks more than still images, which, speak a thousand words:)

Thanks everyone for the comments!

I have contacted my friends at Permisson TV and hope to have the video isseus resolved. It seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer, the video works for me in FireFox.

I keep trying to get my boss to video his seminars that he gives every month - but so far no go. I keep trying though every chance I get.

I think that you are so right Mike and got the idea from you anyway.

Thanks
