Inbound Marketing for the Home Appliance and Electronics Industry

Posted by Mike Volpe on Mon, Aug 31, 2009

I have the pleasure today of speaking at the BrandSource National Convention, where they have asked me to talk about inbound marketing (and especially social media).  In addition to may latestmaterial, I added a few slides and examples relevant to this particular audience.  But, we're looking for more ideas from you!  See below and leave a comment.

What are your ideas?

What ideas do you have for how a local appliance and electronics retailer could do to leverage inbound marketing (publishing online content, optimizing for search, leveraging social media)?  Leave your ideas in a comment below?

For content, start with the answer to the question, why should I go to your store instead of buying my electronics/appliances on the Internet or at the big box store? Then, communicate that information. Video is a great vehicle to convey what I assume is the answer: we have great people and they know what they're talking about and boy can we help you make good choices! So show us your people giving great info. A series of videos on your blog, giving all kinds of info from how often I should vacuum the back of my computer (should I?) to things I shouldn't do with common electronic gadgets to how I can minimize repair bills for various appliances. The possibilities are endless, and everybody loves this kind of info. And - we love watching short videos that tell us interesting things about the stuff we use every day.
